For two refugee families who arrived in Australia in 2016, the opportunity to buy a new home is a source of both excitement and gratitude. Since arriving in Australia, the Syrian and Iraqi families have been working with ARA’s Arabic-speaking bicultural case manager through casework and cultural support programs. Recently, Deb Stringer, ARA’s CEO was invited to their homes, where she offered congratulations on behalf of ARA.
The Iraqi family (pictured) arrived in 2016 and have six school-aged children. After living interstate, the family are enjoying life in South Australia and grateful for the opportunity to buy their own home.
The Syrian family (below) have five children, some of whom are now preparing for their enrolment in university. The family expressed their hope and happiness for starting a new life in Australia. They have planted over 15 varieties of fruit and vegetables in their garden.
